WHAT ARE WE FIGHTING FOR?

America's War Economy

In his presentation titled 'What Are We Fighting For? America's War Economy', Fellowship Member, Scott Ferguson, discusses our country's obsession with empire and militarism.

From the genocide of Native Americans to the drones in Yemen, we have a history of racism and white supremacy that has taken resources needed by our citizens to make profits for corporations while terrorizing other countries across the globe through military might. Learn how our democracy is threatened by misinformation fear associated with our culture of violence.

As Unitarian Universalists we covenant to recognize the inherent dignity of each person and to promote justice equity and compassion in our human relations - to work for world community with peace, liberty and justice for all.  How do we resolve the values of our faith with our country's seemingly never ending thirst for the profits of war?

Sunday's presenter is Fellowship member. Michael Scott Ferguson. Scott is a Lafayette native and USL graduate with degrees in Zoology and Computer Science.  Now retired, Scott is a committed political activist involved with several organizations in the greater Acadiana area.
Scott also plays the ukulele and sings with the Fellowship Band.
