Praise to the Rituals That Celebrate Change

Our theme for June is Ritual -- making meaning of experience.

"Rituals are those repeated actions done again and again in the interest of things like focus, grounding, tradition, cultural symbolism, predictable life rhythms, and feeling a part of something." Craig Kelley

Praise to the Rituals That Celebrate Change

In his sermon "Praise to the Rituals That Celebrate Change," Rev. Dr. Daniel Kanter reflects on the coming of age and graduation of young people in his congregation. He acknowledges that change can be difficult, but he also celebrates the opportunities it brings. He speaks of the importance of rituals in helping us to mark and celebrate change, and he encourages us to create our own rituals to mark the important moments in our lives. Kanter concludes by saying that change is a gift. He says that change can help us to "grow," to "learn," and to "become the people we are meant to be." He says that we should embrace change and that we should use it to make our lives better.
