DAY OF THE DEAD

Please join the Congregation on Sunday morning as we celebrate the stories and gifts of our ancestors.  In the tradition of Dia de los Muertos, our Religious Education Program children will welcome the spirits to our ofrenda, our altar.  Jeff and Arlene will lead us through the ceremony as narrated by Congregation Member Manuel Berrio and members of the UULALA Spanish Conversation Night group.  Senora Catrina will arrive and entertain us while we feast on the favorite dishes of our loved ones.

Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead is a tradition thats been celebrated for thousands of years, tracing back to indigenous tribes in Mexico.
Our Feast is a potluck so please bring a dish to share that was a favorite of a family member who has passed on.  Also bring a photograph of the family member for the altar and a story to share about your loved one.

We'll eat, we'll sing, we'll share our stories - please join us!

Leaders in our congregation, Jeff Case and Arlene Vansant are both Louisiana transplants. Jeff is originally from a small California town and is a life long musician and an IT professional.  Jeff serves as the President of the Board of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Louisiana.
Arlene was born in Florida but spent much of her adult life in California where she built (and still runs) a real estate development company.  Officially chair of the Fellowship Membership Committee, Arlene wears many hats in our Congregation and is well known for her positive determination to get things done.
Jeff and Arlene are the parents of four adult children, several grandchildren and, of course, Lilli Mae.
