Greetings fellow UUs and supporters! We are meeting IN PERSON and on Zoom until further notice. Our theme for June is 'Working Toward a Better Future'. The world -- as wonderful as relationships and the natural world are -- is in trouble. Protecting our planet calls for justice work -- the call to preserve and repair the world. The foundation for this was done by the Rev. Richard Gilbert in which he explored the connections between spirituality and social action. This call for us to do justice work is termed 'A Prophetic Imperative.' --- Sunday, June 5th Service:
This Sunday's sermon by Victoria E Safford and presented by Chris Menard examines the ten steps that have been involved in some part to subvert democracies around the world. You may recognize evidence of attempts to implement some of them in our country as well. Dictatorships have risen with no single actions but slowly and stealthily by advancing these oppressions without alarming the general populations. She identifies fear as a major force enabling injustices in our societies. We, as Unitarian Universalists, have a history of being oppressed and choose reason and compassion as the motivation in human relations and for implementing policies that affect the welfare of all.
