Greetings fellow UUs and supporters! We are meeting IN PERSON and on Zoom until further notice. Our theme for May is Courage. The root of courage is corage, the Old French word for heart (as the seat of emotions). In Middle English, uses included bold corage meaning “brave heart.” As Aristotle said, “Courage is the first of human virtues because it makes all others possible.” Courage is essential to wield power non-violently in opposition to all that diminishes or negates life. Courage makes repair of the world possible. --- Sunday, May 29th Service:
Jerry Touchton of the Unitarian Fellowship of Alexandria will speak on John F. Kennedy's book 'Profiles in Courage' -- a 1956 volume of short biographies describing acts of bravery and integrity by eight United States Senators, and on the Profile in Courage Award presented each May which recognizes a public official whose actions demonstrate the qualities of politically courageous leadership. We visit with coffee and snacks from 10:30-11 am. The service runs from 11 am until 12 noon. After the service we pick a restaurant for lunch and fellowship. Everyone is invited. --- Last Sunday's service recap: Rev. Rebecca Brya's video explained the Seven UU principles and proposed 8th principle, and asked questions about each of them. We pondered these questions during this service and wrote responses in breakout groups. We then shared our responses for the benefit of the Fellowship for our continued growth.
