Greetings fellow UUs and supporters! We are meeting IN PERSON and on Zoom until further notice. Our theme for April is Theological Reflection. Theological reflection is an essential process to identify first principles, clarify values, take seriously that which we do not believe, explore those ideas that make us uncomfortable and/or challenge us, and ensure that our beliefs are life enhancing. As Rilke said, sometimes it is necessary to live the questions in order to experience the answer on some distant day. Theological reflection is a life-long endeavor. --- Sunday, April 24th Service: Visit us this Sunday as we remember those who have come before us on the path to freedom in our Passover Seder instructional 'meal'. We will be taking turns reading from the condensed 'Oranges and Olives' Haggadah and if you are on Zoom, you are welcome to read to us also! (Just have the Sermon Text below open on your computer screen or printed out if you want to follow along and/or read.) The Service slides contain the highlights of the Haggadah as well. Thanks to Bill Edwards for preparing and leading the Haggadah, Kiera Frey for leading the service, the Services Committee and our readers! --- Please visit us either in person at 1119 Johnston St. or on Zoom [tinyurl.com/zoomuulala or via the link at uulala.org]. We visit with coffee and snacks from 10:30-11 am. The service runs from 11 am until 12 noon. The service will be followed by a potluck dinner provided by some of our members for everyone to enjoy! (Bringing a potluck dish is optional) Service Outline Service Slides Facebook Event Sermon Text --- Last Sunday's service recap: The sermon was text by Rev. Stephen Cook read by Chris Menard. While as UUs, we may not take the resurrection of Jesus literally, Jesus is regarded as one of the great teachers and prophets of humankind whose ministry changed the world. He lived as a witness to a God of love that included not just men, but women and children, non-Jews, tax collectors, sinners and prostitutes, desperately poor, the physically deformed and the mentally ill. This spirit of love survives and is perpetually renewed during the Easter celebration. There are also times in our lives when we are 'born again' when overcoming obstacles that held us back and now we are experiencing a new and more fulfilling life. --- View past Services slides (with links to sermon texts or videos when available) --- Join Philip, Kiera and Chaz at the Trash Bash!
