UU Fellowship of Lafayette Greetings fellow UUs and supporters! We are meeting IN PERSON and on Zoom until further notice. Our theme for March is Balance. Life depends on balance. It is the principle of yin and yang. Dark and light, hot and cold, wet and dry. Sometimes balance is easy, like being on a seesaw. At other times, it is a high-wire act with all the risk that entails when things have gone dangerously out of balance. Repair of the world sometimes involves the work to restore balance, especially when dis-ease is rampant. --- Sunday, March 13th Service: The sermon by Rev. Mary Katherine Morn is a sermon about harmony in relationships -- about the delicate balance of maintaining good relationships while preserving our individual integrity. It's about what happens when we give too much of ourselves away. About how important it is to stop, before there is nothing left to give -- a sermon about boundaries, about drawing lines -- inside us and between us. Please visit us either in person [1119 Johnston St.] or on Zoom [tinyurl.com/zoomuulala or via the link at uulala.org]. We visit with coffee and snacks from 10:30-11 am. The service runs from 11 am until 12 noon. service outline service slides sermon text After the service we pick a restaurant for lunch and fellowship. Everyone is invited. If you will be visiting us and are on Facebook, please mark yourself going in the event --- Last Sunday's (Feb 27th) service recap: UU Rev. Dee Graham's sermon, read by Chris Menard, lent insight into the importance of Affirmative Action to level the playing field -- so to speak -- for those who have not had the same opportunities to succeed. In addition, Chris will read a short story from Emma Thompson about what it is like to be in a household with her young adult daughter and older mother. It is interesting and heart-warming. --- --- Chris and Scott attended a book signing on Monday at the main library. Author Christina Li was delightful and animated as she described her life experiences leading up to the publishing of her book 'Clues to the Universe' about two tweens working together to find one of their fathers and complete a science fair project. It was a sweet and charming story and a triumph for a new author who is still studying in college! We expect more great stories to come. --- Scott has donated a solar phone charger that he built to a local community of persons who are homeless. To avoid harassment by the police, the location will remain undisclosed and no photos of residents will be shared to protect their identification. --- ANNOUNCEMENTS
