UU Fellowship of Lafayette Greetings fellow UUs and supporters! We are meeting IN PERSON and on Zoom until further notice. Our theme for January is Renewal. It is said that the one constant in the universe is change. Our bodies renew themselves physically by replacing cells of most organs with new cells. Our minds begin life as empty vessels which grow and change with our life experiences. The elements of which we are made were once created in the hearts of stars which formed from gas and dust -- then exploded -- spreading those elements throughout the universe to come together as beings alive and able to contemplate their own natures and the natures of their universe only to be dispersed again and again in a never-ending cycle of renewal. Sunday, January 9th Service: UU of Grants Pass describes this Sunday's sermon by Rev. Margaret Keip well: 'With life burgeoning around us, and ourselves star dust within it, we’ll sing earth songs, and think big thoughts and muse on the fond fallacy that we can really throw things away.' Visit us for fellowship in person or on zoom beginning at 10:30 am and 11 am for the service. Go to uulala.org for our Zoom link to the service or you can use this one. You can also view the interactive service slides and read the sermon which will be read by Kiera Frey. All are welcome to join us at one of the local restaurants afterward. Please let us know if you have special dietary needs -- we want to include you! If you will be visiting us and are on Facebook, please mark yourself going in the event Last Sunday's service recap: Travel writer Pico Iyer observes that two people can have the very same experience yet interpret that experience in totally different ways. One as positive and the other as negative. By practicing 'The Art Of Stillness' you may become better able to share something fresh, creative and joyful with family and friends. He suggests that just the act of sitting still or meditation can not only lead to better health and clearer thinking but also to emotional intelligence.
