Greetings fellow UUs and supporters! We will be meeting ONLY on Zoom until further notice. Sunday, August 22nd Service: Our Zoom-only service this Sunday focuses on humor as it relates to being a UU with jokes and shared laughter. If you have a short funny story or joke, share it with us at the end of the service. Visit us online and have some fun by clicking the Zoom link here or at uulala.org. If you want to view the service slides which include a link to the sermon text, view them here. If you are on Facebook, the service event is here. --- Last Sunday's service recap: Last Sunday's Communion of Tears service featured a video 'Is it OK to Cry?' by David James Lees and Alexandra Lees. Their tips and advice centered on the natural expression of emotions by crying whether happy or sad, finding out why one is crying in order to process the emotion, when crying may not be appropriate, and what to do when a child may be crying in order to manipulate a parent. Some members of the congregation and visitors spoke of their own experiences after the service. --- Announcements Masking in Schools: We support masking in schools to protect our children. We ask that you call or email the 4 committee persons in the list above (LA House Health and Welfare Committee) and call the LA Board of Elementary and Secondary Education at (225) 342-5840 to say you support face masks in our schools! Book Club: We are thinking of starting a book club: if anyone is interested the book will be 'Little Fires Everywhere'. We would meet 1/month on zoom - contact Chris if interested (christinam900@bellsouth.net) Art Journaling: We are also thinking of starting an Art Journaling group, also email Chris if interested in meeting 1/month over zoom --- Calendar Items for August (Communion): 8/22/21 - Communion of Laughter 8/26/21 - 101st Anniversary of Women’s Vote! 8/29/21 - Service: Women’s Equality Day (Speaker or video) --- Have a great week!
