Greetings fellow UUs and supporters! Important message: Our August 15th Sunday service will be on Zoom ONLY. We will not be meeting in person until further notice. Sunday, August 15th Service: Our August 15th Zoom service -- Communion of Tears -- features a video 'Is it OK to Cry? The Spiritual Meaning of Tears' by David and Alexandra Lees. The Lees point out that crying is a natural way to express emotions brought on by thoughts and beliefs that we should identify. Crying may be used for avoidance or manipulation so parents must calm their child first then be persistent in getting to the root of the problem so the child can learn they can change thoughts and beliefs. Here is the Zoom link for the service and it is also available at uulala.org. The interactive service slides may be viewed here. If you are on Facebook, the service event is here. --- Last Sunday's service recap: Last Sunday's Communing with Nature service was led by Scott Ferguson via Zoom with readings by Chris Menard and Bill Edwards. Members and visitors shared photos and talked briefly about what in the photos inspired them. --- ARCH of Acadiana persons experiencing homelessness funding initiative Mary Pritchard's organization is asking the City of Lafayette to provide funding and housing for those experiencing homelessness. We have added the Fellowship's name to the list of organizations supporting this effort. You or your organization can add your name to the list here. --- Calendar Items for August: 8/15/21 - Service: Communion of Tears: “Is It Ok to Cry? | The Spiritual Meaning of Tears” (video) 8/22/21 - Service: Women’s Equality Day (Speaker) - TBD 8/26/21 - 101st Anniversary of Women’s Vote 8/29/21 - TBD --- Have a great week!
