Hello everyone!
March is Women's History Month so we will be including items in our services to commemorate them. Here is a video tribute to women's firsts: https://youtu.be/Oy-L-OVwmZQ
Our theme for the month is RESPECT so we will also be including items in our services for that as well.
March 14th's service features a sermon by Rev. Dr. Margret A, O'neall titled 'Identity' and is a video sermon to be viewed online.

We humans like for our world to be well categorized in discrete boxes. It simplifies our efforts to understand, but it does not reflect the reality of the real world. The world is not binary . Subatomic particles can act like particles or waves, We categorize race but we all have a common ancestor. We have insisted on categorizing ourselves as male or female based upon physical characteristics, but we now understand that gender identity exists on a continuum that is individual and personal. Much harm has been done in  not recognizing this fact. We must acknowledge that some of us have been disrespected and that we have caused pain. It is our duty based on our UU principles to welcome those who are in need and deserving respect.

If you cannot attend the service you may wish to read the linked sermon text above.

We continue to hold our services online until further notice. We appreciate our members who have volunteered to read during the services and are looking forward to guest speakers for each upcoming month.

We need additional readers for this Sunday's Chalice LightingReading, and Chalice Extinguishing. Please reply if you are interested in doing any of these.

Here are our current volunteers:

Service Leader (Hunter Miller), Prelude (Carol Rice), Opening (Chaz Frey), Responsive Reading (Chris Menard), Meditation (Kiera Frey), Closing Song (Bill Edwards), Closing Words/Benediction (Hunter Miller). Hymn/Special Song (Hunter Miller), Offertory Hymn (Scott Ferguson), Meditation/Offertory Instrumentals (Bruce Snow)

Chris Menard will read the award-winning 'Glorious Woman' sermon by Rev. Dorothy Wilson Kimble on March 21st and Dawn Guillotte will speak on March 28th. Bill Oliver will speak on April 18th.

Dawn Guillotte has experienced homelessness and drug addiction in the past -- including the loss of her children to child protection services -- and will be sharing her experiences and coping mechanisms with us. Bill Oliver is a musician and naturalist from Texas who goes by the moniker of 'Mr. Habitat' and has been labelled an "Environmental Troubador" by Time Magazine. His visit with us will coincide with the following Thursday's Earth Day. I am expecting that we will plan an activity for that as well. For more about Bill Oliver see: http://mrhabitat.net/
