Hello everyone!
March is Women's History Month so we will be including items in our services to commemorate them. Here is a video tribute to women's firsts: https://youtu.be/Oy-L-OVwmZQ
Our theme for the month is RESPECT so we will also be including items in our services for that as well.
March 7th's service features a sermon by Rev. Dennis Daniel titled 'A Politics of Respect' and will be read by Services Committee member Scott Ferguson.

Rev. Daniel points out misguided policies that have been supported by both liberal and conservative thinkers without input from their target constituents in an effort to solve social issues. Instead, he suggests letting them speak for themselves to determine what they need, then providing them with the tools and skills to meet those needs. Government, institutions, businesses and individuals should work together with the goal of benefitting society with the recognition that freedom is linked to responsibility. He concludes that we have power from reconnecting personal values to political morality and have tools we can use to support values, exert pressure and make feelings known.

If you cannot attend the service you may wish to read the linked sermon text above.

We continue to hold our services online until further notice. We appreciate our members who have volunteered to read during the services and are looking forward to guest speakers for each upcoming month.

We need additional readers for this Sunday's Meditation, Responsive Reading, and Chalice Extinguishing. Please reply if you are interested in doing any of these.

Here are our current volunteers:

Service Leader (Hunter Miller), Prelude (Carol Rice?), Opening (Mary Guirard), Chalice Lighting (Bill Edwards), Sermon (Scott Ferguson), Prayer (Chris Menard), Closing Song (Bill Edwards), Closing Words/Benediction (Hunter Miller). Hymns/Special Songs (Scott Ferguson), Meditation/Offertory Instrumentals (Bruce Snow)

We will have a video sermon on March 14th featuring the Women's History Month theme, Chris Menard will feature a woman's sermon on March 21st and Dawn Guillotte will speak on March 28th. Bill Oliver will speak on April 18th.

Dawn Guillotte has experienced homelessness and drug addiction in the past -- including the loss of her children to child protection services -- and will be sharing her experiences and coping mechanisms with us. Bill Oliver is a musician and naturalist from Texas who goes by the moniker of 'Mr. Habitat' and has been labelled an "Environmental Troubador" by Time Magazine. His visit with us will coincide with the following Thursday's Earth Day. I am expecting that we will plan an activity for that as well. For more about Bill Oliver see: http://mrhabitat.net/
