Hello everyone! We are fast approaching our last February service with our month's theme of Mercy. We continue to hold our services online until further notice. It has been both rewarding and challenging finding music and readings and our Services committee has done a remarkable job! We appreciate our members who have volunteered to read during the services and are looking forward to guest speakers for each upcoming month. We will have Dawn Guillotte on March 28th and Bill Oliver on April 18th. Dawn has experienced homelessness and drug addiction in the past -- including the loss of her children to child protection services -- and will be sharing her experiences and coping mechanisms with us. Bill Oliver is a musician and naturalist from Texas who goes by the moniker of 'Mr. Habitat' and has been labelled an "Environmental Troubador" by Time Magazine. His visit with us will coincide with the following Thursday's Earth Day. I am expecting that we will plan an activity for that as well. For more about Bill Oliver see: http://mrhabitat.net/ March's theme will be Respect. This Sunday's sermon 'Let Justice and Mercy Roll Down Like Water' is a video excerpt of a recent Rev. William Barber ( Poor Peoples Campaign) sermon. It is presented by Mary Guirard. Rev. Barber begins with pointing out that the need for reconstruction of our nation's institutions is immediate. The rich have taken from the poor -- literally killing the poor with unjust policies. He offers solutions to our many injustices and urges us to be active participants in the reformation of our failed state.
