Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Lafayette

December Theme: Compassion

Sunday Sermon: Winter Solstice service

Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It’s a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.

The Gathering Discussion Group

The Gathering Discussion Group meets this Sunday following the service! All are invited. Attendees usually bring a brown bag lunch; however, Dale is going to bring a platter of ham sliders which will be available for anyone staying for the session.

INN MINISTRY

Folks at the Inn continue to depend on your generosity. Many of these folks let us know how huge a difference it makes for them to have this help. One of the things that was given to us to hand out recently was cumquats. These were a novel to some, but a pleasant nostalgic treat to others. We love to go there and not only provide practical help, but also spread some joy and encouragement for people who are having a hard time.

There are a few items that are high on our list:

  • canned or pouch protein such as tuna, chicken, spam, sardines
  • instant grits and oatmeal
  • nuts, fresh produce, fruit always appreciated
  • Now with cold weather, jackets, sweaters, pants, long-sleeved shirts, caps, gloves, old sleeping bags and blankets are very important

  1. Another great newsletter. Thank you, Mary, for putting it out, and thanks to all involved who keep us “surrogate” UUers in the loop. We love to hear what you’re up to. See you on Sunday. ❤️🎅
