Forgiveness liberates the soul, it removes fear. That’s why it’s such a powerful weapon.

HAPPENINGS

Potluck – March 9

People eating

This Sunday after service is our potluck Sunday. Bring a dish and stay to share a meal in community with your fellow UUers. Everyone is invited. If you can’t bring a dish, no matter — there will be plenty of food.

Small Congregations Info Sessions

The UUA’s Congregational Life Smallers Team is hosting a month of learning for small congregations. They will be hosting a webinar each week in the month of March on a variety of topics for small congregations:

  • Deeper Joy (community building activities)
  • Deep Listening (a foundational element of good communication
  • Social Action for small congregations
  • The final week of Small Congregation Month will be dedicated to convening groups of small congregation leaders: ministers, religious educators, board members, etc.

Registration will include access to all materials and webinar recordings. Register at https://uua.wufoo.com/forms/q1ejvozi0vyp2lx

Stewardship Sunday – March 2

Linda and others shared inspiring stories about the role UU plays in their lives and the importance of supporting the fellowship.

Your pledges, no matter their size, let us know how much money we can depend on, so we can make plans to spend it most effectively. The pledge form is at this link.

Vote on Constitutional Amendments

Many local groups are holding meetings explaining the amendments and sending out postcards encouraging people to vote. Packets of postcards can be picked up after Sunday service on the 9th. After Sunday’s potluck, those wishing to stay on to write postcards are welcome.

Lunch Bunch – March 2

The UU lunch hunting party went to the new location of Shane’s Quesadilla Burgers and nobody had a Quesadilla Burger but the food was tasty and the conversation was up to its usual high standard.

Inn Ministry

Folks at “The Inn” continue to need food, including protein, such as canned meats, beans and fish, all with pull tops. For those who are temporarily housed, but struggling to feed their families, hotdogs and sliced meats are good. Instant grits and oatmeal, quick-cooking rice, ramen noodles, and boxes of mac&cheese work well for those with microwaves. Fresh produce is a blessing – fruit and veggies.

And of course, money is always welcome! We use this money to buy bus passes, which are a steppingstone to people trying to get their lives together, letting them get to work, medical appointments, and shopping. For the homeless it’s a way out of the elements.
