EVENTS CALENDAR
Next Sunday, October 13, is our Water Communion service. Each year, as we gather in the fall, it is our custom to offer water as a symbol of our connection one to the other. Usually, we collect water from a signigicant time or event during the year that was meaningful to us. For some, it’s from a trip or a special gathering. During the ritual, we pour our individual small containers into a common vessel and share its meaning with the congregation. However, many of us forget, and we simply take water from our faucets to represent symbolically the meaning we wish to share. This is done inplace of Joys and Concerns. So remember, next week, to bring your container of water.

The 2024 Rummage Sale UU Fund-raiser – October 26. Start Collecting Items! It is not too early for UUFoL members and friends to begin thinking about how they can make the October 26 fund-raising sale a success. You can begin by collecting items you no longer need or want, as well as by asking family and friends for donations. Donations can include household items for kitchen and bath, home décor, linens, tools, toys, sporting goods, musical instruments, jewelry and fashion accessories, antiques and collectibles, and small furniture pieces. All donations must be clean and in good working order. The event will be held at Jockey Lot. More information will follow next week. We will need volunteers during that day – someone with a truck to haul chairs and talbes to help folks with large items that will nto fit into their cars; help with setting up, managing the booth for a few hours, etc. All proceeds from this sale will go to this year’s operating budget. For more information, contact Chris Menard or Phyllis Richards | |
GET OUT THE VOTE Postcard Writing | If you want to contribute to the get-out-the-vote effort, ask us about postcards. You can have your own post-card writing gathering. It’s fun! We did one at church on a Sunday after service. I did one at home on last week. Folks were grateful to have a chance to do something to help our democracy flourish. It seems the postcards are actually effective in encouraging folks to get out and vote. |
THE INN MINISTRY While gathering items for the Rummage Sale, please keep coats, jackets, sweaters, warm pants for the folks at the Inn, as winter is approaching. |
